Alex Terry

Trainee Quantity Surveyor

What led you to FM Conway?

I competed a work experience placement back in 2014, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Once I finished my A-levels I applied for the FM Conway apprenticeship scheme.

How has your career progressed since joining FM Conway?

I joined as an apprentice in the Civil Engineering department and have just completed my apprenticeship. Now I am a Trainee Quantity Surveyor studying for my BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying degree and my role consists of looking after some of the smaller civils projects.

What do you most enjoy about your role as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor?

I most enjoy the variety and going out to site. This is to measure works carried out to date, in order to produce a monthly valuation.

What’s your proudest achievement since joining FM Conway?

Winning apprentice of the year 2018.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

Hopefully as a Senior Quantity Surveyor at FM Conway, with a Royal Institute of Charter Surveyors (RICS) Chartership status.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

Mountain Biking.

If you didn’t enter your line of work, what else might you be doing?

Attending University full-time to get a Quantity Surveying degree.
