FM Conway and Brake, the road safety charity, announce a new partnership

Leading infrastructure services company FM Conway has entered into a new partnership with the road safety charity, Brake, as the business looks to affirm its commitment to delivering safety across the UK’s roads.

FM Conway has aligned itself with Brake due to the charity’s excellent ambitions in ensuring safety is paramount for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists and to guarantee we operate in a world where everybody moves in a safe, sustainable and healthy way.

Road crashes are the single biggest killer of those aged 5-29, with 1.35 million individuals dying last year on the roads. To combat this the new partnership of FM Conway and Brake will see the two organisations fundraising and raising road safety awareness together to ensure they reach their shared goal of zero road deaths and injuries.

The partnership will be one that takes FM Conway forward as an industry leader in the area as they continue implementing innovative solutions to the ever-present dangers across our road network.

FM Conway has already begun implementing new technologies to change the way their drivers function on the roads, including the use of new VR (Virtual Reality) training systems and auto-stop technology to manage the risk of collisions. Brake also runs the only UK accredited helpline for those bereaved or seriously injured by road crashes to provide emotional support, practical advice and advocacy.

Sadly, a third of people killed in road crashes are driving for work purposes so we applaud the activity of companies, such as FM Conway, who are committed to making roads safer for their staff and for their wider communities.

The integration between FM Conway and Brake ensures that the promotion and evidence of road traffic safety can run seamlessly through every possible caveat, from concept to action, all the way through to support.

As part of their message, Brake coordinates activities across the year to engage everyone to realise that we all have the power to make changes and ultimately eliminate death from our roads.

The new alliance will see both organisations team up for Road Safety Week from 18-24 November, the UK’s biggest annual road safety event, because both aim to inspire individuals and organisations to boost awareness and engagement for safety and well-being during the Week and beyond.

This year’s event is all about getting everyone to ‘Step up for Safe Streets’ and celebrate the design-led solutions that allow us to operate safely and ensure lives are saved, even in the presence of human error.

Dave Conway, Road Safety Manager at FM Conway, commented: “We are delighted to be working with a fantastic organisation such as Brake. I have worked with Brake at a number of their events and believe they are making great strides in the name of road safety. We believe that this partnership will deliver massive benefits to both partners.”

Katie Shephard, Director at Brake, comments: “Brake is delighted to partner with FM Conway and looking forward to working together over the next 12 months.   Sadly, a third of people killed in road crashes are driving for work purposes so we applaud the activity of companies, such as FM Conway, who are committed to making roads safer for their staff and for their wider communities.”
