Michael Conway MBE
Michael Conway MBE is Chief Executive Officer of FM Conway.
Michael was appointed as Managing Director in 1981, upon his father, Frank Conway’s retirement, and has developed the business from it’s origins of a highway maintenance contractor into the business it is today.
Renowned for his vision, innovation and determination, over the last 30 years Michael has gained a reputation for his progressive approach to construction industry recycling and sustainability. This dynamic approach has resulted in the development of our low carbon Asphalt Plant and also our Thames-side jetty and has resulted in FM Conway becoming one of the leaders in construction industry sustainability.
Andrew Hansen is Chief Operating Officer of FM Conway.
Andrew joined FM Conway in 1998 following an international career in rail and project management. Bringing with him a wealth of experience in operational and business management, he has held the position of Director of Term Maintenance for 11 years and in 2008 was appointed to the Board.
Andrew is a Chartered Civil Engineer with a degree from the University of Cape Town.
Joanne Garwood is both Central Services Director and Board Director.
Having studied and gained experience in complementary industry roles, Joanne joined the FM Conway team as marketing assistant in 2003. Developing the company’s brand profile at an exciting time while also implementing new channels for internal communication, Joanne was increasingly charged with supporting Michael on a day-to-day basis.
In 2010 Joanne was appointed as Central Services Director, a position which she
holds today. The Central Services team is unique to FM Conway and provides an
integrated support role for clients, project teams and operatives.
In 2011 Joanne was appointed to the Executive Board.
David was appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2011, following five years as FM
Conway’s Financial Director.
With 20 years board-level experience working in a
broad range of businesses including transportation, manufacturing and
engineering, David has an excellent delivery record in raising capital, leading
finance negotiations and completing corporate transactions.
David has held a number of FD positions both in public and private companies, is a member of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants and holds
an MBA from Cranfield Business School.
Mike was appointed as Operations Director in early 2012. He simultaneously joined the FM Conway Board of Directors.
With a contracting career spanning more than 37 years, Mike started his career as an operative at Associated Asphalt. He has since worked at both an operational and managerial level for organisations in the public and private sector.
Before joining FM Conway Mike was Deputy Managing Director of Ringway’s southern operation where he oversaw the company’s contracting operations. Previously he had held the role of General Manager for Tarmac Roadstone in London and the south east. Both roles, together with his early operative experience, will ensure that he brings combined managerial excellence and practical understanding to his new role as Operations Director and Board member.
