Tachbrook Market Feeder Pillar Scheme

Description of Works

FM Conway has implemented a Market Trader Feeder Pillar scheme on Tachbrook Market, delivering the project as the first Contract B scheme to be carried out across our Term Maintenance partnership with Westminster City Council.

Services used on this project
Delivering Innovation

The Lighting division worked with our Surfacing team from Contract A in order combine both the installation of the new infrastructure with the paving elements that were being carried out in order to overhaul the look and feel of Tachbrook Market. By utilising our self-delivery capability, this collaboration enabled us to minimise disruption and maximise our efficiency on the project.

The project required removing all of the existing market trader infrastructure and installing new infrastructure, including 24 Feeder Pillars, market trader power access points, all new underground cabling, as well as updating the lighting in the market to LED.

Challenges and Solutions

By upgrading the market using Siemens Ubitricity market trader pillars, the traders have been provided with safer locations to power their electrical equipment, as well as smartening up the street scene and improving the level of health and safety by eliminating trip hazards caused by the old equipment.

Outcomes

The project was successfully delivered two weeks ahead of schedule and has visually and practically improved the Westminster public realm. With an emphasis on sustainable infrastructure, this scheme can now be used as a blueprint for the other markets on the Westminster contract.
