materials

crushed and unwashed

type 1 and 2 granular sub-base

Manufactured in accordance with Clause 803 of the Specification of Highway Works. This material is commonly used as an unbound foundation platform for road and footways, car parks, lorry parks etc and is usually laid straight on to the sub-grade or soil. Once compacted further construction layers are laid on top of it, usually consisting of bituminous bound materials.

6F1 and 6F2 capping and bulk fill materials

Fine and coarse granular fill material used to build embankments or used as general fill around structures below ground.

20mm down crushed asphalt (RAP)

Mainly used in hot asphalt production to boost the recycled content. (up to 30% RAP can be added to new asphalt and bituminous mixes)

washed and screened

0mm - 1mm Fine sand primarily a component of concrete ballast and a blinding sand for paved areas

0mm - 4mm coarse sand: bedding sand for paving and as a component of concrete ballast or micro asphalt production

4mm - 20mm aggregate: primarily a component of concrete ballast

20mm - 30mm aggregate: frequently used as an additional aggregate for the Retread Road Recycling Process

0mm - 20mm blended ballast *: suitable for concrete production

All of the above products are produced from 100% recycled concrete or asphalt construction waste except those marked * which may contain varying percentages of virgin aggregate

concrete

C5 to C40 - Standard concrete mixes for road kerb bedding and backing, pavement crossovers, etc ranging in strength from 5N/mm2 to 40N/mm2

ST1 to ST5 - Recipe concrete mixes where minimum cement contents are specified

Foamed concrete - used primarily for permanent trench reinstatements where early strength is necessary. Foamed concrete readily flows into voids and sets quickly therefore enabling early trafficking and prevents future settlement occurring.

Mortar screed - used to make large quantities of mortar for brick laying or floor screed for the building trade
