experience

The Structures Division of F-M Conway have worked on a considerable number of structures throughout the South East.

Since 1991 we have maintained structures for both public and private clients, including Westminster City Council, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Wandsworth, Barnet and Carrillion Plc. We maintain many of the Thames crossings including Waterloo Bridge, the Golden Jubilee Footbridges, Chelsea Bridge and Albert Bridge. In addition, we maintain strategic assets such as pedestrian subways, vehicle underpasses, retaining wall and pipe subways.

maintenance contracts

Over the last ten years we have also been responsible to Westminster City Council for the upkeep and improvement of the Piccadilly and Strand Underpasses.

This has involved the daily management of their mechanical and electrical systems, including the VMS, visibility and CO systems, ventilation and extraction systems, bulk light unit replacement schemes, anti carbonation painting, panel repairs, barrier treatments and pump replacements.

In addition, we have carried out all routine maintenance operations and emergency works resulting from accidents, incidents or other events around the city.

These maintenance contracts have provided valuable experience and have enabled us to develop our strategy for dealing with emergency work, reactive works and planned maintenance schedules. They provide evidence of our ability to deliver works within programme and to the agreed service level.

maintenance services

The type of projects we regularly work on include the upkeep of bridges, underpasses, pipe subways, subways, river walls, monuments, culverts, graffiti removal, concrete repairs, bridge inspections and non destructive testing.

structures projects

Projects we have carried out include refurbishments to subways for Westminster City Council at Hyde Park Corner, Porteus Road and Green Park, rehabilitation of the A404 Harrow Road flyover, including Cathodic Protection measures, and repair and reconstruction of the Grade 2 listed Five Arch Bridge for the London Borough of Bexley.

Major projects in sensitive locations include the trial removal of facia girders to Westminster Bridge, and the demolition and replacement of a reinforced concrete relieving slab over a cast iron segmental tunnel section above the Circle and District Line at Praed Street, London.
