world class service

Specialising in the maintenance of public highways,
the FM Conway Highway Maintenance Division is responsible for term maintenance contracts in almost half of the 33 London Boroughs.

With a wealth of experience and a proven track record in delivering contracts in accordance with our clients’ stated objectives, we not only understand the nature of works and their many challenges but we also understand the changing context within which clients and local authorities now have to operate. Our objective is to align our goals with those of our clients to enable us to provide a world class service that will deliver best value and initiate a stepchange in service delivery.

We believe a clear understanding of customer requirements, a stable and well trained workforce, tried and trusted processes and an innovative approach will ensure that our clients’ objectives are met.

Our capabilities are vast and include:
• reactive and planned maintenance
• traffic management schemes
• footway/carriageway reconstruction and surfacing
• trench reinstatements
• gully emptying
• emergency response service (24/7, 365 days a year)
• winter maintenance

performance

All our current term maintenance contracts have performance measures built into them, so our experience of operating under this type of regime is extensive.

To expedite electronic ordering and invoicing, we have
in-house capability to operate a number of electronic systems. Our investment in software means we are able to track our own key performance indicators which we feel best suits the industry.

innovation

Innovation is key to our current success. Like creativity, it stems from the environment in which people work, and positive well-motivated people, doing jobs they find challenging, are at their most innovative. One result is that we now carry out the highway inspections in a number of London boroughs. The information or inspections generated from the highway are electronically transferred to the integrated management system held at the client offices and our satellite depots via GPRS from handheld IPAQs.

We currently undertake elements of contracts concerned with design and construction. This has allowed early contractor involvement in schemes, improving the buildability of the project.

customer care

Integrated management teams are key to the success of any term contract, allowing the project to focus on principal stakeholders, road users, residents and traders. That way, programming, complaints management, notification and general customer care all become more effective.
